This Dam Casio Still Works!
It may be going on 20 years that I have had this watch. I bought it in New York City on a trip with my wife and I must say it has served me well. The bezel fell off about seven years ago, I went through three replacement straps before I bought this NATO version and honestly I would like to replace the whole watch… but I can’t, it still works fine.
This is my “stranded on a desert island, has to be dependable, rugged and waterproof”, go to watch. If things ever go south and I had to pick one watch to wear for the rest of my life, this would be it. It’s got the standard ABC features and of course it’s solar so it always works, the light has a sensor so when it’s dark and I lift my wrist, the display comes on. To be honest, it pretty brilliant BUT, it’s not all that stylish. Functional; Yes, Attractive; No.
I think Casio has gotten the hint about their ABC watches because this is going to be what’s on offer in the coming year. Firstly, let’s go a little above my budget, a Hammer Tone G-Shock. Besides a cool case that is made out of titanium, it has all the other bells and whistles of the other G-Shocks. The price is slightly higher than you would expect though, $6,000 dollars. Like I said, not in my budget, but a very cool watch.
Another beautiful offer from Casio is this Oceanus. Not an ABC watch but none the less a very nice looking timepiece. I don’t travel to warrant use all the features of the Oceanus but then again I rarely used the depth gauge of my SPF-70. Well either way, I promised my wife I would wait until my Casio broke before I bought a replacement. The problem is that after 20 years, it still works fine.
